Last Thursday Minister Allan visited the Glenroy Community Learning Centre to officially announce the $10.8 million dollars of new funding initiatives for ACE over the next three years. On hand to meet Minister Allan were students Amira Dankha who is studying Adult VCAL and ESL Frameworks and Roueida Cameron who is studying the CGEA.

Member Discounts on Seek Ad Placements

 

Looking to fill a job vacancy?  ACEVic are able to offer discounted rates to Members wishing to advertise their vacancies on seek.com.au.  Simply email the ad wording to Jacqui Ralley at office@acevic.org.au and this can be placed the same day.  Cost to Members is $164 plus GST (a saving of $16 + GST on usual cost).  Remember, as part of your Membership we can also assist in the recruitment process,  including general recruitment advice, advertising, receiving and short-listing applicants.  Support on interview panels is available on a fee for service basis.  Free advertising of staff vacancies is available in our online fortnightly newsletter.

 

 

Federal Volunteer Grants

 

This is a federal grant designed to assist not for profits with the petrol bills of volunteers. Up to $2,500 is available for volunteers’ petrol bills, as part of the Australian Government’s $21 million Volunteer Grants Program 2008. Under the Program, grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 can also be used to purchase equipment, including computers, tools, air conditioners and sporting equipment. Check it out here
 

 

 

Volunteer Policies

 

As a general rule, volunteers should be reimbursed for their out of pocket expenses incurred while volunteering. Your organisation should also have a volunteer policy along with a statement of Volunteer Rights and Responsibilities. An example policy is available for members here. Vacancy: Centre Manager, Glen Eira Adult Learning Centre

 

Glen Eira Adult Learning Centre are seeking a self-motivated, well organised person with high level leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to manage a vibrant community education centre.  The position requires tertiary qualifications relevant to Adult Community Education or management experience in a community centre.   Experience in seeking funding opportunities and preparing funding submissions as well as demonstrated planning, administrative and computer skills are a must.  Part time - 20 hours per week over four days to commence as soon as possible.  Applications close 19/9/08. Position descriptions available from the Chairperson on 95961481 or jamoylan@bigpond.net.au.
