A landscape gardener, who hopes to combine his horticulture apprenticeship with artistic garden design and sculpture, has been named this year’s Holden Apprentice of the Year at the prestigious South Australian Training Awards. Daniel Austin, trained at TAFE SA, was among 10 winners to be presented with an award by Further Education and Training Minister Paul Caica at a gala ceremony attended by 750 guests at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Twenty-five year old Daniel from Goodwood, who currently works at TAFE SA Urrbrae Campus, sees completion of his apprenticeship as a staging point for further study, and is attending night classes in Environmental Management and Horticulture at TAFE SA.
