National Skills Policy Collaboration
This statement identifies ten overarching priorities for reform of skill-related policies, drawing on the experience of the Collaboration members, the Australian Industry Group, the Australian Council of Trade Unions, the Australian Education Union, Group Training Australia and the Dusseldorp Skills Forum.

More than 100 graduates and prize winners from TAFE Tasmania’s trade disciplines will be recognised at a ceremony in Launceston. The graduates come from the Automotive, Building Construction & Allied Trades, Electrotechnology, Hair & Beauty, Interior Design, Metal Trades, Mining & Engineering, Natural Resources, Hospitality, Meat Processing and Food Processing areas.

TAFE NSW WINS LUCRATIVE SHANGHAI EXPO TRAINING (NSW)

Premier Morris Iemma announced TAFE NSW had signed a lucrative contract to develop training plans for the entire workforce of Shanghai World Expo 2010. Mr Iemma said TAFE NSW would write the blueprint for training the Expo’s workforce which will include volunteers, professional staff and contractors.

NEW NATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS COUNCIL

The newly established council responsible for the quality of Australia’s qualification system, both nationally and internationally, will be based in South Australia. Mr Caica also announced the new Australian Qualifications Framework Council (AQF) would be chaired by the former Federal Treasurer and Minister for Education, South Australia’s John Dawkins.
