Today is the official launch of National Volunteer Week.
Volunteering Australia would like to thank all of Australia’s 5.4 million volunteers for their commitment to making Australia a better place.
Please take every opportunity you can to talk about volunteering this week. Here are a few tips on how you can still do something to help:
? Call talkback radio and mention it is National Volunteer Week and that you would like to say thank you to every volunteer listening
? Write a letter to the editor of your major daily newspaper thanking volunteers
? Personally say thank you to anyone you know who volunteers
? Suggest to your employers that they say thank you to staff members who volunteer and recognise their efforts
? Download the Certificate of Appreciation template and use that to recognise volunteers in your group
Don’t forget you can download a fast facts sheet from the website to arm you with a few statistics regarding volunteering in Australia that may be handy to have next to you if calling talkback radio.
To all volunteers we say Happy National Volunteer Week and thank you for helping to change our world.
