Holmesglen Institute of TAFE are now taking applications for the following 2008 courses
Certificate IV in Disability Work (CHC40302)
Diploma of Disability Work (CHC50102)
1. Certificate IV in Disability Work
The Certificate IV in Disability Work is designed for people who would like to work or who are already working with people who have an intellectual, physical or sensory disability.
Commencing: January 31- One day per week for 12 months)
Duration: 12 months in class, one day per week (Thursdays), plus practical fieldwork that can be undertaken in your workplace (if you already work in the disability field) or voluntarily.
Job Prospects: Graduates can work in a wide range of disability agencies including day services, employment services, residential services or individualised support services in both the government and non-government sectors.
2. Diploma of Disability Work
The Diploma of Disability Work is designed for people who have successfully completed the Certificate IV in Disability Work and wish to take the “next step” in their education to increase their career options.
Commencing: February 5 - Half day per week for 12 months)
Duration: 12 months, (Mondays), after successful completion of the Certificate IV in Disability Work, plus some practical fieldwork. Classes are held 4.5 hours per week.
Job Prospects: Graduates may work in range of specific disability support positions including case management & project work or move into supervisory, coordination and/or management positions in both the government and non-government sectors.
